Subscription scenarios are an important tool in the SARE system that allow users to specify precisely the actions to be performed in connection with three email address handling events. These events are: adding an address via a web page, confirming the addition of an e-mail address, and automatically unsubscribing from an e-mail.

With subscription scenarios, the user can control exactly how the SARE system should respond to these events. Each event can result in the execution of one or more user-defined actions.

Actions in subscription scenarios can include sending an administrative email, redirecting the user to a web page, or displaying a specific HTML/TXT object, which can be, for example, a specially prepared newsletter.

An important element of the subscription scenarios is the interface, i.e. the form on the website through which the Internet user subscribes to the database of e-mail addresses. For each interface, three scenarios can be created to handle the above events. This gives flexibility and the ability to adapt the scenarios to different contexts or audience groups.

However, it is worth noting that in the case of confirming the addition of an email address and automatic unsubscription from the email level, it is not possible to distinguish due to the interface. This is due to the fact that these actions are not directly related to the interface, but represent some general subscription handling actions.

The SARE program provides users with ready-made scenarios that have been created for default interfaces. If the user does not create his own scenarios, the system automatically uses the default ones. Of course, it is possible to create customized scenarios for specific needs and requirements.

How to create a subscription scenario?

To create a new scenario, the user must go through several steps. Before starting to create a scenario, it is useful to define its elements: event, interface, action and object type. The last element, the object, is created by the user in the “objects” section, where he can prepare various types of materials for dispatch or display.

To create a new scenario, the user should follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the main menu and select the “action scenarios” tab. Click on the “new scenario” link.
  2. Select the type of event you want to handle. For example, it could be confirmation of the addition of an e-mail address, automatic unsubscription, or addition of an address via a web page.
  3. Choose the right type of interface. A variety of interface options are available to suit your specific needs.
  4. Select the action or actions to be performed when the event occurs. This could be to send an email, redirect to a web page, or display a specific HTML/TXT object.
  5. Select the appropriate object to be sent or displayed as part of the action. It can be a newsletter, a special web page or other material prepared in advance in the SARE system.
  6. Save the scenario by clicking the “save” button.

It is worth remembering that multiple scenarios can be created for each event, allowing for more flexible handling of subscriptions and adapting actions to different contexts.

Automatic unsubscribe – what happens when you click “remove link”?

The automatic unsubscribe scenario refers to the situation when an Internet user decides to leave the mailing list by clicking on the so-called ” remove link” located in the footer of the newsletter.

After this event, the SARE system can take various actions depending on the scenarios set. Here are some examples of such actions:

  • Sending an email – you can program to send any HTML or TXT version of the newsletter as an unsubscribe confirmation. However, we recommend being cautious about this, because by unsubscribing, the Internet user is expressing the understanding that he or she does not wish to receive further e-mails from a given sender.
  • Display HTML/TXT message – the system can display a special message in the form of a web page located in SARE. This message can be prepared as a special object in the system.
  • Redirection to the website – the system can redirect the person who unsubscribes from the website to a dedicated page with, for example, a thank you text (redirection is created in the objects section as “redirection”).

Such scenarios allow flexible management of the subscriber unsubscribe process and ensure consistent and compliant performance of the SARE system.

Confirmation of adding an email address – what happens when you click the link?

The scenario of confirming the addition of an e-mail address refers to the situation when an Internet user receives an administrative e-mail asking for confirmation of registration and, by clicking on a special link, accepts the addition of his address to the mailing list.

After this event, the SARE system can perform various actions that have been defined in the scenarios. Here are some examples of actions that can be executed:

  • Sending an email – you can program to send any HTML or TXT version of an email as a confirmation of the address addition. It can be a newsletter, e-card or other material prepared in the system.
  • Display HTML/TXT message – the system can display a special web page located in SARE as a confirmation of the address addition. This page can be created as a special object in the system.
  • Redirection to the website – the system can redirect the person who confirms the addition of the address to a dedicated page with, for example, a thank you text (redirection is created in the objects section as “redirection”).

With these scenarios, you can effectively manage the registration confirmation process and ensure consistency of communication and expected responses from subscribers.

Adding an address through the website – what happens when you enter an email address?

The scenario of adding an address through a website refers to when an Internet user adds his or her e-mail address to a subscription list using the appropriate form on the website.

After this event, the SARE system can perform various actions that have been defined in the scenarios. Here are some examples of actions that can occur:

  • Display HTML/TXT message – the system can display a special web page found in SARE as a confirmation of the address addition. This page can be prepared as a special object in the system, just like a normal newsletter.
  • Redirection to a website – the system can redirect a person who adds to the list to a dedicated page with, for example, a thank you text (redirection is created in the objects section as “redirection”).
  • Sending an administrative email – the system can automatically send an administrative email in text version (TXT), asking you to confirm the addition of the address to the database. Such an email is sent only in text format to make it compatible with different email programs and operating systems. It is important that such an email is not too voluminous and does not resemble spam, so as not to annoy people who are not interested in subscribing.

Subscription scenarios provide the ability to customize the operation of the SARE system to individual user needs and requirements. They allow full control over the subscription process and effective communication with subscribers.

It is through subscription scenarios that the SARE system becomes a powerful tool for managing subscriptions and communicating effectively with recipients.
