Want to learn how to easily import a database into SARE? Follow our simple 4-step guide. If you haven’t already created the appropriate group before importing the database, you can do it easily. Go to “Addresses” → “Browse Groups” and click the “Add Group” button (you’ll find it highlighted in red).
Step 1: Import the file into the SARE system.
To import an email address database into SARE, follow these steps:
- Select the character that separates the fields in the imported file. You can select the appropriate character from the drop-down list that was used to separate fields in your database.
- Click the “Browse” button and select the file you want to import. Make sure that the selected file is correct.
- Select the encoding of the file. This depends on the type of encoding used in the import. You have three options to choose from: WINDOWS-1250, ISO-8859-2 or ISO-8859-1.
- Alternatively, you can type or copy email addresses directly in the “Or enter addresses in the box below.”
- Click the “Import” button to complete the import process.
Step 2: Assign features to file data
At this stage, you can assign the relevant data features from the file to the SARE system. The procedure is as follows:
- You will see tables with fields in the SARE system and fields imported from a file.
- The “Available Features” column lists the types of information that can be assigned to each imported address.
- In the “Select features to export” column, you can select the fields you want to import.
- Assign the corresponding fields in the system to the layout of the fields in the imported file. You can do this by using the “Right” and “Left” and “Up” and “Down” buttons.
- Make sure the email address is assigned to the correct field and other information is matched accordingly.
- Click the “Next” button to proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Give status and define the group
At this stage, the imported e-mail addresses are defined by the operator. You can assign the status, group and type of email to be sent to a given address. If you want to perform a verification mailing, set the status to “Saved no verification” when importing the database.
The program also automatically detects addresses that are already in the database. If such addresses appear, you can use one of the four options in the “If the imported address is already in the database” drop-down list. The options are: change only the status, do not import, overwrite only the imported data or overwrite all data (delete history). After making your selection, click the “Next” button to continue.
Step 4: Import Summary
At the final stage, you will receive information about the number of processed e-mail addresses and the number of e-mails in which the status or other data was changed.
Congratulations! Now you know how to easily import your database into the SARE system. Thanks to this, you can effectively manage email addresses and carry out effective marketing campaigns.
